Happy Hanamatsuri!

What started out to be a rainy  day turned into a bright sunny  day!

For those of you who ventured out to the church, we hope you had a good time spending it with great friends and a wonderful service, followed by a "rain delayed" lunch, but delicious nonetheless.  It was so nice to see so many attending our Hanamatsuri Service.

Thanks to Toshie and Yuki for officiating the service and setting up the onaijin as always.  Reverend Ken Yamada was "present" with his video explaining a lot of shared history with our temple.

Thanks to Andrea for playing the organ    to keep us in tune and Steve for chairing the service  and giving us insights to our religion along with background information about our guest speaker.  Thanks Curtis for getting Reverend Yamada's message connected to our new t.v.  that Denny was instrumental in getting so that we could see a bigger and brighter Reverend Yamada.

Kaye and Toshie worked on the program to keep us on track  during the service.  Kaye is quite the graphic artist, not to mention her beautiful ikebana  that she decorates our entry with.

Our lovely hanamido was decorated early this morning by Lynne, Joyce, and Gail, and assisted by Steve.  Thank you to those who brought flowers!

A tri-tip lunch was served following the service.  Thank you all for practicing your Six Paramitas with "Patience"!  The grillers had a hard time getting the barbecue going in the rain. (Better late than never, right?)

Thanks to Carol for making the delicious pilaf and the "Dessert Team" of Joyce, Lynne, Janette, Greg, Kaye, Jan and Nancy for bringing out that very important "first course" of the day so we didn't miss a beat with our luncheon!

We had special Dharma on Wheels food deliveries    to our members who couldn't join us.  Thanks to Andrea, Tats, Joyce, Steve, Toshie, Yuki, Janette, Lynne, Glenn and Curtis for taking the lunches to our members that we missed seeing.

It was a good day!  We are looking forward to our next gathering, which by the way is our BCP Community Picnic on Sunday, April 28 starting at 10:30 a.m.  Please sign up ASAP with Kari Kozuki by this Wednesday, April 17th.

Be well and stay safe.

See you soon!

The BCP has started a Dharma Discussion. “Everything You Wanted to Know About Buddhism But Were Afraid to Ask” is the format so don’t be shy.  Come on out!  Currently we are meeting at the Ikuta residence in Kingsburg. If you have questions, please call Dennis.  The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m.
